The Story Of The Spirit Animal
Human animals made nails out of iron ore. Other human animals gathered these nails together. Still other human animals trained still other human animals to control and kill human animals when they wanted to. Some human animals disliked a human animal called Jesus. They got a number of human animals that liked them to go and capture the human animal Jesus. These human animals then acted on their belief that they did not like the human animal, Jesus. They decided to nail the human animal, Jesus, up on trimmed wood so his animal body would suffer and eventually cease functioning. Thus human animals killed another human animal they did not like named Jesus. Now the human animals who did like the animal called Jesus got back together after the death of their teacher, the human animal, Jesus, and made a story up about him to say that he was not an animal at all like themselves but a spirit being not subject to the laws of nature that they were subject to. Since the human animal, Jesus, was no longer existing, they could do whatever they wanted to do with their memory of this animal, Jesus. They made him a God, a superior being who looked like them in their animal selves, who ate, defecated and mated, but who was not an animal like themselves because he could not die, though his animal being did die on a piece of wood, killed by other animals who did not like him. This spirit-being, in the image of a human animal like themselves, they made images of and told stories about this image to other human animals. Some of these human animals started believing that such a spirit animal actually existed who had been mangled in his animal body but who had somehow risen out of his broken and dead animal body to become a spirit being they could all feel and see in animal form.
Thus it was that these human animals got other human animals to believe the way they did in a new spirit animal they called, Jesus Christ. They expected great things of this new spirit animal, such as they would see him come back to earth in their lifetime. But alas, this spirit animal never came back to earth and was never seen again. All these animals now did not know what to believe. They often huddled together to repeat their spirit animal stories and do rituals that made them feel special, and that their spirit animal was alive. What these spirit animals, now called Christians, realized was that though they wanted to believe that animals like themselves could become spirit animals like their original spirit animal, Jesus, it never happened for any of them. They noticed that among themselves, human animals still got sick, old, got killed by lions and soldiers, and that the life went out of their bodies just like happens with all animals they have seen or killed.
They never became spirit animals like was said of their one spirit animal called Jesus. Ah, well, they thought, we are just animals all the same. What can we do? We cannot escape the body as was promised to us by our first story-tellers who described this spirit animal they called Jesus. Did our story-tellers lie, or where they entertaining us, trying to make us have hope that we could escape our animal nature, suffering and death?
Gradually this tribe of human animals no longer believed so strongly in their original story of the spirit animal, Jesus. Many went their own way and forgot about the old story that was not really true as they experienced it. Finally, some of the wiser among the animals had to admit that they were all only human animals, and becoming a spirit animal was just a wish to escape being the animal they always were and always would be, generation after generation.
Yet still, the longing to become a spirit animal not controlled by being just animal, resided in the hearts of a few in each generation. Perhaps one day? Perhaps the old spirit animal stories would still come true? Perhaps someday? But nobody would predict when. This then is the story of animals who tried to make themselves spirit animals but failed. They never realized they could be both spirit and animal as their original teacher, the animal Jesus, had taught them.
