Jesus' Wisdom
The New Commandments From Jesus
modernized from Jesus' teachings by Strephon Kaplan-Williams, © 2005
God is used here to represent Source: the Originator of life and value happening now.

1. You should love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind, and your neighbor as yourself
2. You should forgive others as they forgive you
3. You should let go of your life to save it, not hold onto your life, for then you will lose it
4. You should give to God what is God's and to rulers what belongs to rulers
5. You should root out the anger in your heart so you will not harm or kill others or yourself
6. You should pray unceasingly that the kingdom of God, the greater good, comes on earth
7. You should leave your parents and unite as One with another as your own mate
8. You should do good to those who harm and persecute you and go the second mile with those who require this of you
9. You should not lay up treasure on earth where moths and rust corrupt but build spiritual value which lasts
10. You should obey God your master when He requires you to work in the fields of life or to attend at his harvest and feasts
11. You should sell all you possess to buy the pearl, the value of great price, requiring not less than everything
12. When you are called by God, go, serve him, even if you do not want to
13. You should commit yourself to a purposeful life by going through the narrow gate, and avoid the broad way that leads to destruction from living unaware as most people do
14. You should reconcile with those whom you have hurt and are upset with you
15. In the same way that God gives to all you should give of your own sustenance to those in need
16. You may deny the truths from God but to deny that God is the source of truth condemns you and no redemption is possible
17. You should do works of value as best you can while not seeking to be perfect or have everything happen as you want it to
18. You should not try to be perfect or just good, but seek always to be whole and inclusive
19. You should analyze yourself continually as to whether your motives are real and pure in whatever you do
20. You should give thanks to God for whatever healing or good fortune comes your way, rather than claiming it is produced solely by yourself
21. You should follow values and principles regardless of what conventional law says
22. You should be with purposeful people and leave behind old values, relationships and meaningless activity
23. You should be flexible and ready for new values and challenges so you can actualize them
24. You must deal with evil in yourself and others rather than avoid it
25. Purify your being to be able to act on values, potential and actual
26. You should purify your perception so you see things as they are, not as you want them to be
27. You should not worship the things of man, be they conventions, rules, rituals, buildings, worldly achievements or the temples and artifacts of religion
28. Affirm that God does not dwell in material things but in every act that manifests the greater values of life
29. You should not kill or give violence for violence, hurting yourself and others
30. You should live each day as it comes, dealing with the difficulties therein and realizing the possibilities of value
31. Deal with today and tomorrow will take care of itself
32. Do not live from anxiety and fear but from the will of God as it comes to you, living what has the most value
33. Worship God in your acts of value rather than in your talk or in the rituals you perform to impress others or yourself
34. Serve others and you yourself will be served. Care for others and you yourself will be cared for. Love others so that you yourself may learn how to love. Love others with the same love by which God loves you
35. Love others as you love yourself
